San Vito & Cadore
San Vito di Cadore is a mountain town in the northern part of the Veneto region, not far from Venice, nestling at the foot of majestic peaks in a broad green valley in the heart of the Dolomites, UNESCO World Heritage site since 2009.

San Vito is located 1011 metres above the sea level and is just 10km from Cortina d’Ampezzo, making it the ideal jumping-off point for challenging routes for expert climbers and gentler strolls for those who prefer to enjoy their mountain views from lower down.
The luxuriant verdant valley in which it is located takes its name from the mountain stream that crosses it, the Boite, surrounded by dense pinewoods, with delightful footpaths snaking through them, ideal for pleasant, undemanding strolls and daily walks with all the family. The area is liberally sprinkled with restaurants and mountain refuges offering plenty of opportunities to sample the delicious local cuisine and nourish both body and soul. Mountain biking fans have plenty of trails to choose from, with breath-taking views, linking with all the neighborhoods of the Cadore Valley and also heading off toward many other Dolomite destinations. During the summer season the fairy-tale landscape of Mosigo Lake, just a few minutes’ walk from the centre, has a children’s playground, picnic area equipped with barbecues, sports facilities such as tennis courts and a football pitch, and it is also an excellent starting point for pleasant rambles.
San Vito is also home to the San Vito Ski Area and Parco NeveSole, a ski resort complete with nursery slopes and a playground on the snow suitable for families and people wanting to learn how to ski or refine their technique. Just a few minutes from the town centre, it boasts nine pistes of varying difficulty making it the ideal place to spend winter holiday days enjoying sports and entertainment for kids and grown-ups alike, surrounded by stunning views. A bus service serving the Ski Area is free for holders of the Ski-pass and Cadore Card, and it also links to the larger resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo.
You can explore the mountains in wintertime on snow-shoes or go ski-mountaineering on special trails.
BY CAR
From the south, you can reach San Vito di Cadore driving on the A27 motorway (from Mestre to Belluno) and the connected state road SS51 d’Alemagna (Venice is 140 km far, and can be reached in just 90 minutes).
Coming from the north, take the A22 motorway from Brennero. At the tollgate “Bressanone-Val Pusteria”, leave the motorway and take the state road SS49 to Dobbiaco, then the SS51 through Cortina to San Vito di Cadore.
BY TRAIN / BUS
The nearest railway station is Calalzo, 25km from San Vito di Cadore heading south. Trains run from Venice-Santa Lucia to Calalzo, from where DomomitiBus takes you onwards to San Vito.
From the north, the closest station is Dobbiaco, from where regional buses will take you to Cortina and San Vito.
